“A few years,” she replied, trying to remember just when it was that Miles had introduced that particular persona; she couldn’t keep up with all of the damn identities he’d crafted. All she knew was that he changed skins like most people changed underwear.
Which only reminded her that she probably wouldn’t be seeing Miles’ for a while. It only made her a little sad.
“How long have you known him?” She wasn’t sure what the official story for those two were; easier to just ask.
Juliette’s expression turned thoughtful. In many ways, Lord Norwood was as forgettable as she herself was (the unfortunate gowns she had previously work aside; some people likely still wondered where the cupcake girl had gone); it was harder to recall their introduction than it should have been. “Socially, for several years. I… suppose he moves in a variety of circles? I still do not know him very well, but would like to.”
A gentle prod for information; she did not do this as well as the Countess, but she was trying.
Ash nearly laughed at the kid’s assessment. Not entirely off, not entirely on. Not bad for not knowing that Basil was a mask. Still, the show must go on and all that shit, so she grinned and tried to not shake her head. “Most people run in more than one circle. Even the Countess, I’m sure.” And Albrecht’s circles were scary as fuck.
“I am certain you are correct,” Juliette said. It seemed she would not get the information she sought here. And so, all she could really say was, “I do apologize again for my clumsiness. I am glad your… dress was unharmed.”
She noticed the brief pause and laughed. “Good to meet you, Juliette. I’m sure I’ll see you around.” With a nod, she turned around and sashayed away.
