“Yes,” Ari piped up as Tom clasped his good friend's shoulder and braced to leave, “you’ve been very helpful, boys, now shoo.” The expression on Aud’s face didn’t bode well; the sooner the men were out of this powder room, the better for all parties (she did not think, if a fight erupted between the bride and groom, that she and Tom would escape similarly unscathed). Then to Aud, “Let’s get you cleaned up, darling, come on.”
Before he could pass her, Audrey had reached out, spinning on her heels and holding him at the arm. “Miles, I’m sorry.” He pulled away from her grasp.
"See you ladies," Tom said lightly. His friend was silent, however, as the pair of them left the room, the door swinging shut behind them.
