Merri & Bram: DREADGUARD
"Reflect," Merri gasped. How to fight against an ability like that! Everything Merri would try to cast at it would come back to them, and they would essentially be defeated by him and him alone. But before he could fall into too much despair, he recalled that Bram, being a fighter, a dragoon, could counteract Reflect with physical attacks. All was not lost.
To Bram's query, Merri nodded. "I know... some, yes."
Then, when the Dreadguard attacked Bram, Merri wasted no time with the first spell that he knew to possibly help, if it wasn't too late: Protect, then Shell shortly after. That was all he had time for anyway before the monster turned its attention on him and fired a powerful wind spell at him.
He couldn't do anything about it in time to help, and the spell hit him, tearing into his robes and skin and knocking him off his feet. Merri no sooner stood again before he felt the hard force of the Dreadguard's deadly wing across his side, sending him right back down to the ground. He cried out from the pain, but knew that he had to do what he must to help Bram fight the monster.
If it cast Wind spells, perhaps it was weak to Earth -- but Earth was an element Merri never could get a handle on, all the same, so again, he was useless on that front, but maybe, just maybe...
Haste. He cast it upon Bram, hoping it would be enough, just as the Dreadguard prepared yet another attack.
