Sayuri & Kiernan: AIN'T NO PARTY LIKE A KILLER MANTIS PARTY CUZ A KILLER MANTIS PARTY DON'T STOP.
Sayuuri's eyes flicked towards Kiernan, following the arc of his jump. It always took her a moment to speak during the trance and new, helpful additions had to be consciously identified as not the enemy. She had automatically tensed when he came down next to her, primed to attack, but had quickly realized that would be unnecessary.
It was just Kiernan, not another monster. It was just another member of the guild. But her posture did not slacken, only her energy redirected from him to the Killer Mantis that was in front of them.
"Just a little," Sayuri managed to say at last, but she couldn't say much; now the Killer Mantis had realized it would be up against two, and it was acting again.
The Killer Mantis raised its massive claws, heaving them upwards and then down in a cleaving motion where the both of them were standing. It missed Sayuri - she was glad that she could move quickly, unencumbered by armor, but she could feel the earth tremble as it set its massive weight down. She lost her footing, stumbled, dragging the head of her hammer against the ground. Caught herself in time to heave her hammer back upwards, and she ran towards the mantis, swinging.
