THE APPROACH: rhys & miles.
“Never?” he offered, a mixture of confusion and hopefulness in that single word. If he and Loch had no interest in tying the knot—his oldest relationship, the closest thing to a constant in Miles’ romantic landscape —then it didn’t seem likely to happen with anyone else either. He just wasn’t the type.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if some people in this city are already wondering who the hell Basil Norwood is, despite the years and facetime I’ve sunk into the alias.” It was a wistful admission, a grudging confession when it came to Miles’ own vulnerability and fallibility… a thing he loathed examining. “And the best man is another high-profile role. So having the best man be not-imaginary is a step ahead of the game. Probably it doesn’t make it fully legitimate, but it can’t harm either.”
Miles was still churning through the details of the scam, spinning them through his head before he backed up and caught Rhys’ question again—and its implications. “Wait. Is this because I’m not likely to get married again?”
