Miles really had gotten truly coddled, relying for years on the derring-do of an airship to swoop in and save the day. On the ground, everything was so much drearier and slower and less theatrical. There was less swash, less buckle. But the Wildebarrow job was a suitable distraction from other occasions, and gave him the opportunity to herd these six men together for their impressive array of bardic experience, advertising themselves as a musical group, a touring entourage, a group of all-male performers ready to astound and thrill the populace with their musical stylings! (There were, of course, other motives for this trip.) They took one large carriage for the long ride up into the mountains and to the town of Wildebarrow, three men riding inside, three outside. They could let their guard down on the way in, napping and dozing as the carriage rumbled onwards. Once they reached the town, however, then it’d be into disguises and fake identities for their ‘concert’. And then to the six rented chocobos, and the escape. Surely nothing could go wrong.
