It was a nice morning. The streets around the docks were bustling with people at this time of day, and Nate had to take care to avoid being jostled. He'd filled his bandolier up with most of the grenades he'd managed to save when he fled Master Schue's - the corsair who'd advertised for help had been somewhat cagey about what exactly they'd be doing. He'd rather carry too much ammo than not enough.
Nate had thought about stopping by to visit his family, but he didn't know what his uncle would be doing this morning, and Nate preferred to avoid the older man when visiting. Besides, he didn't have enough money for himself currently, let alone enough to spare some for his siblings. First thing after he got paid for this trip, he was buying himself a mattress, even if it was only filled with straw. Cian had been generous, letting Nate stay in his apartment building, but the place was completely empty and the rough wooden floor was tough on his back.
Nate was still trying to stretch out the worst of the kinks when he found the appropriate berth. The airship was a pretty thing, sleek-looking, and he made a note to see if he could get into the engine room once they were in flight. He found a wall to lean against, out of the way of the crew, and watched as they went about the business of casting off.
As the roofs of Emillion shrunk beneath them, Nate could swear he smelt coffee. Following his nose brought him below-decks to a compact galley, where a brown-haired woman stood with her nose buried in a mug.
"Spare a cup?" Nate asked, hanging back in the doorway.
