Eden had been making her rounds to people she held dear throughout the fighter’s guild. That, of course, meant grabbing people in their dorms early in the morning, then making a second round later that day for people who commuted, instead of lived, at the halls. That was why she’d come back so late. Lunch was a time for people to wander off into the bazaar district and crowd into restaurants and bistros that served delicious foods. Now they’d all be wandering back into the guild hall and she’d be able to make that second run.
So there she was, making her way toward the councilor’s offices. The first door she came across belonged to Aspel. She reached forward to knock on it, but it just swung open and she blinked at the chest in front of her, before looking up to see that it was Drake and smiled. “Hello!”
Drake blinked down at her, mind suddenly racing. Oh man, how long has she been standing there? He shot a not-quite-panicked look back to Aspel, making sure that it didn’t bleed into his smile when he grinned at Eden. Sex at work was clearly a bad idea.
“Hey, Eden,” he said, relieved his voice wasn’t squeaking. “Did you need Aspel for something?”
“Yes!” she chirped before digging around in her bag. There was a slight pause in her movement as if she’d noticed something. Then she started again and pulled out a box before turning to hold it up for the man. “I also needed to see you, but here you are.” The smile on her face was wide and bright. “Happy White Day!”
“Thanks,” he said, grinning. He took the box - a good brand of chocolate that was probably going to be gone by the end of the day - and stepped forward to give Eden a quick hug. “You didn’t have to.” Which he knew she knew, but it still was worth telling her; he hadn’t expected to get anything since he never gave anything during Namorados.
“Aspel’s in there,” he added. Hopefully, he’d distracted Eden long enough for Aspel to look presentable. With a wave, he started down the hall towards his own office.
Eden was instantly warmed by Drake’s smile. This was the reason she gave out so many chocolates. People always felt good to be thought of on days like this. Most of the time, these were days they expected to just watch everyone enjoy the celebration of the holiday. Eden was having none of that. She took his embrace welcomingly returning it in earnest. “Well, no I didn’t, buuuuut, worth it,” she said a little giggly. While she tended to mother Drake to death, it was always nice to get a hug out of him too (not that it was hard). He just had good hugging arms, okay?
When he released her and pointed out that Aspel was in the office, she nodded. “Have a beautiful day okay?” she said by way of send-off as he walked toward his own workplace. She then opened the door and stepped inside.
