Having just been relieved of duty for the day, Theo wasted no time in searching out the nearest food stall. Drink would come soon enough, but for now, the berserker found himself famished from a long, aggravating day on patrol. The aromas of Ordalian cuisine wafted through the Bazaar, and he attempted to follow his nose toward what would likely constitute something of a snack to tide him over. Shoving his way through the crowds with purpose but little grace, Theo happened to look over and spot a familiar face. Again, it seemed, they would meet by chance, and the large and towering man strode himself over in her path. “Good day,” he said as greeting, already wondering to himself if she had spent the day wandering about on a peculiar whim. Perhaps a lot of her walks had to do with the purpose of getting to know the city or perhaps they were merely a passing urge to look for anything, everything. Siri looked pleased to see Theo, thoughtful look breaking out into a smile as she rose on tip toes to meet his eyes. A quick tap on the shoulder, “Theo.” Using his name was a sign that Siri was fairly lucid at this particular point in time, maybe her madness had taken the day off or maybe he caged it within his own when he greeted her. “We don’t have this sort of celebration back in Kerwon.” Meaning she had no idea what was going on. Flowers, chocolate, food — it all seemed very cheerful. Well, some vague idea. “Are you just finishing work?” A polite way of enquiring if he wanted company or not; Siri always liked his company but she would not detain him from his duties. “Doesn’t seem too different from the last,” he said with a shrug of his shoulders, only slightly less uncertain about the festival than Siri. Theo only gave the holiday as much thought as what was required, but he had gleaned information from the passersby, here and there. Still, he had no use for white chocolates and white flowers, polite affections and well-meaning gestures. He only had a duty to perform that day--one that was thankfully now over. “Aye, just finished,” he confirmed, shrugging his broad shoulders in a gesture that meant Siri could follow along with him. “Looking for food.” Theo’s usual frown receded slightly as he raised his eyebrows, waiting and wondering if this new friend of his would join him. “Except now everything is white. The food is different, it is alike but not quite.” She had spent enough time watching people to be aware of that. “I’m not really sure why chocolates and flowers again on this day but I suppose it does not matter.” Beyond passing curiosity that may be best satisfied by asking Caspar who probably did celebrate this holiday, Siri wondered if this year Rictor would as well. The shrug was taken as an invitation to follow along, so she did, falling into step with him among the crowd. Navigating was so much easier with Theo, the crowd seemed to automatically make way for him and all she had to do was stick close enough. “I don’t know what to try, do you know much about Ordalian food?” |
