Perfect, Mathieu knew his way and Rivalen was more than happy to let him take the reigns of their expedition. “Do you suffer from allergies?” Just a curious question, the answer wouldn’t really matter but it was preferable to focus on conversation than making eye contact with one of the flower vendors, last thing he wanted was to have someone shoving roses at his face. Catching someone’s eye seemed to invite that. Admittedly, there was something else about Mathieu, something that made Rivalen want to poke at the bard and find out exactly what was beneath the cheerful demeanor — no one could be genuinely this cheerful, right? “Sake will do, better tasting than allergy potions.” Never too early to start drinking in these occasions. Mathieu’s eyes went wide at the question regarding allergies, but his cheerful grin grew wider as he began to explain. “Why now that you’ve asked, there was a festival back in Kerwon where I--” He caught eyes with one of the vendors suddenly and waved, clearly distracted away from whatever tall tale he was about to relay, his attention coming back around only to hone in on the another topic entirely. “That’s the spirit,” he said encouragingly, and there, just in the distance, Mathieu spotted a stall that would just do the trick. Why put off celebrating when one could jump right into the fray, after all? “Drinks and exotic cuisine, a small gift for your generous company,” he declared. In that one thing they could agree, jumping headfirst into things and thinking later gave a rush of adrenaline to his otherwise mundane existence. So having a drink was not the same as jumping into a fight, but in the grand scheme of things it was better than nothing and Rivalen was more than content to let Mathieu keep the reigns of their activities in his hands. The half-started story about Kerwon was filed aside to be brought up in another occasion. “We get to try exotic cuisine too?” Rivalen kept his tone amused with little effort, “Here I was thinking it would drinks and just that. Lucky me. Tell me, are you a patron of these types of holidays or do you just enjoy them this much?” “The necessities and demands of my role demands both,” Mathieu said, making his role in the public eye sound not nearly as much of a burden as it could have, perhaps, as said by another. The young bard certainly had his role to play, and he went about it always with as much energy and effort as he could. “Not that it’s a hardship, and absolutely not today!” He beamed, as to prove his point, marching along to the first food vendor that caught his eye, and that looked to provide a sufficient amount of amusement for both him and his fighter friend. |
