Eden been busy all morning. She’d been trying to map out a proper route to each guild hall and make the deliveries were as efficient as possible, but with festivals it was never easy to catch everyone. People went out into the streets to enjoy the festive things and general atmosphere of the day. Some left earlier to get things done before the streets were filled with citizens too. She’d waited until about noon to make this delivery, finally making it to the theatre district. She didn’t know if Arielle would be practicing today, during the holiday, but she wanted to make sure she got this right. While the ranger could have easily had this delivered by a courier, she’d spent most of her money acquiring all her things and didn’t have a lot to spare on services. So she entered the theatre and asked around, certain that there were others who had the same idea, but she’d wanted to meet the actress for so long that she thought why not today? It was as good a time as any and probably less weird if she thought about it. And it seemed she was in luck; the doors leading into the performance space proper opened just then, spilling out actors and technical staff alike, all intent on the eateries outside. It had been a long morning -- they were rehearsing on the complete set as of this week, and there had been quite a bit of tripping over unexpected set pieces and props. Ari was one of the last to emerge, rubbing her shoulder where the harness she’d worn had caused tension, laughing at something one of the other cast members was telling her. She spotted the woman standing in the lobby and looked around. “I think someone’s got a visitor,” she said. “Pity it isn’t me; I could do with some lunch delivery just now.” Offering her friendliest smile to the woman, she asked, “Can I help you find someone?” Maybe it was just her luck, or all the good Karma coming back around, but there was Ari in front of her all of a sudden asking if she needed any help. “Yes,” she said automatically still in the mind of asking for assistance to find the woman who had just approached her. Then she shook her head. “I mean no! No, you’re just who I was looking for!” The awkwardness of her mistake was clearly wearing off and a moment later she thrust out the small bouquet of baby’s breath. It was usually used as a filler or decorative additive to actual bouquets, but she really loved how they had looked bundled up as they were and had decided to get them in lieu of roses… which were to be given to her partner. “These are for you,” she smiled brightly. She was clearly proud of her gift. “I was going to get roses, but I thought maybe you would be getting showered in roses today.” This was also true, considering Ari was pretty and talented and sorta famous. “And!” she said awkwardly reaching behind her into her satchel to procure a box of chocolate. “These!” Then a moment later, she blinked as if she realized something. “My name is Eden and I love your shows and you’re just as pretty as your voice,” she said with a nod before adding, “which is gorgeous,” to clarify the statement. Ari was a bit taken aback by the sudden enthusiasm. This happened sometimes -- not nearly as often as some people seemed to think, but sometimes -- but even so, it was always flattering; she found her smile growing as she accepted the unexpected gift from the very pretty stranger. “I prefer these to roses,” she said candidly, “though I doubt anyone will be showering me in those, either. These are my only flowers today. Thank you.” She took the chocolates, too, snatching the box out of the way before one of her colleagues could decide to help themselves. “If I’m getting candy from a pretty woman, it’s mine,” she exclaimed with a laugh. She never celebrated these sorts of holidays, but it felt nice to be noticed. She turned back to her unexpected benefactor, holding the bouquet to her chest. “Thank you, Eden,” she repeated, this time using the woman’s name. “For the gift and the compliment. I hope you’ll come see the show during the festival -- I think you’ll enjoy it.” |
