"Now, see, you do that," Kiernan pointed out, "and then I'll have to send out my vicious guard dogs--" Never mind he didn't have one, technically, plus Gillian would likely kill him if her dogs didn't if he tried. Not the point, though. "--and then you'd get Amarant and then I'd get Lucy and next thing you know the city's completely decimated. It's a lot easier for everyone if you just get out of bed and come with me."
Kiernan paused a moment to take in a whiff of the smells about the festival. "Besides, it's such a gorgeous day, and look at what all you'd be missing if you stayed in bed all day! Come on, you won't regret this." Then he caught sight of a stand full of Ordalian pastries -- from Ari's side of that continent, if he wasn't mistaken, though the merchants looked like they were from the Sako Islands themselves -- and nudged Lavitz's shoulder.
"Wouldn't be a Howaito Day--" He'd wince at his blatant mispronunciation if he cared. "--if we didn't get some sweets stuffed into our bellies. My treat."
