Sky/Peony | Bazaar District | lunchtime
With all that she had yet to do today, Peony had not expected to have much time to visit the vendors in the Bazaar. But as she left her morning meeting, it was near lunchtime, and she retained enough homesickness (quiet, rarely voiced) that she took the long way back, via the Bazaar, thinking that an hour spared for food would perhaps not destroy her day's schedule too badly.
The familiar scents that accosted her nose upon entry to the cordoned-off street had her smiling, her dark thoughts receding for the moment. She had not been back to her homeland in many years -- she had spent nearly half of her life here, in Valendia -- but she still remembered the festivals her parents had taken her to long ago, when she had been very small and her mother still among the living. The memories had faded a little with time, but this freshened them, a little.
There were quite a few immigrants in the city, and many of those from her homeland seemed to be in attendance. She supposed she was not the only one feeling slightly homesick.
As she passed the vendors offering sweets -- perhaps later, to take back to the Tower for some scholars -- and into the area where food was being sold, she spotted a familiar head of tousled black hair. Approaching him just as he settled on his treat of choice and joined the queue, she took up the spot behind him. "Hello, Sky," she said. "What a pleasant coincidence. Might I buy you lunch?" She hadn't intended to eat takoyaki, but it seemed a worthwhile price to pay for his company.
