Merri widened his eyes in surprise at the offered gift. "You didn't have to, Drake! What is it?"
He inspected the bag curiously, though at Drake's comment for one of the leads, he sheepishly looked about the restaurant as though the bard in question or someone else from the company might be around, but of course it was ridiculous to think that they might be here tonight at this exact moment. The bard had been less up to par than Merri would have expected, even for a smaller theatre, he had to admit, but he still rather thought she did an okay job, especially compared to anything he might be able to do himself. Still, it hadn't hindered his enjoyment in the least bit. But Drake had, thankfully switched the topic, and to something that perked his interest considerably.
"They're putting on Romulus and Julianna? I love that opera! And Ari is in it? Is she Julianna?" The questions spilled out of his mouth; truly, the story was one of Merri's favorites, even if the ending always left him in tears.
