The younger fighter nodded as the orphans around them chattered with glee. To reflect the other's movements, she placed a hand on another child, placing a soft pat to his head. She was not a natural around youth the way she considered the Feldwebel to be—imitation was always an option.
"Now let's see," Elvira chirped, eyeing a nearby shelf. Upon examination, she found only tools to heal real wounds, along with some tape. She took the bandages and plastic tape. "I'm afraid," she began in a volume only for Violet, "I am not quite as skilled at keeping children company as you are."
She gave the admission with a trace of admiration, more genuine than her intentions behind volunteering.
