The echoes of her heels came closer and closer. Audrey leaned back over the sentinel to get another glimpse, her voice now in a low whisper. "You’re fucking shitting me." It was the nice thing about Cas, really, she didn’t have to feel so guarded. Turning back to look at him, she frowned. "We have to keep moving. She’s about to turn the corner. We can do the old switcheroo and head back inside the palace." Audrey threw her head back, a small whine escaping the blonde’s lips. "Seriously, I was supposed to be on my best behavior today." Even with all her training, the ninja had deemed it impossible to walk quietly in five inch heels. Glancing back at the sound of the woman calling for Cas, Audrey glanced up at him for direction. It was hard to keep a straight face, but Caspar managed. "I shit you not," he lied breezily, hellbent on taking the joke as far as he could. "Switcheroo it is. I have not had to pull one of those in a while, I hope I still remember how." Clasping her hand in his once again, he turned and began to lead her away. "Don't bother, Audrey." He paused to turn and throw her a smirk. "Bad behavior looks good on you." Caspar continued leading her around the garden but had to stop at the ruckus she was making in her impossibly high shoes. He laughed, so quietly that no one but she could hear it. "The shoes make your legs look great, but they are also going to get us caught unless we do something about them." Audrey’s eyes glanced down at his hand holding hers momentarily before flicking back up and following him. As he turned to look at her, Audrey gave a slow roll of her eyes, though she couldn’t help the smile that spread on her lips. Suppose it did look good on her. At his laugh, Audrey wrapped her arms around his neck, smirk on her lips and almost expectantly waiting for him to lift her. "We were walking in the garden, my heel got caught and I twisted my ankle. You being the very noble knight, takes me back indoors and heals my ankle. Done." "That wasn't what I meant, but sure, this'll work." Caspar bent down and neatly swept her up, carrying her as though she weighed nothing. "No really," he grinned, as he paused around a corner, "I was suggesting you take them off, but this is much more fun." He could hear the woman still calling out his name in search, and forced to keep moving. "She just doesn't give up, does she?" Luckily the doors were once again in sight. "Alright, what's the plan once we get through?" She was the one with all the bright ideas tonight, and Caspar was more than willing to let this be her quest. Audrey held back whatever shocked noise was about to leave her throat. A giggle and grin soon replaced her shock, legs kicking gently in the air. "Take off my shoes?!" she almost yelled, but caught herself and turned it into a rather loud whisper. "And catch a cold? I almost just died of a plague. I don’t need another one! Besides! I’m a lady now." The sudden rest from her heels made her realize how painful they were, and the prospect of being put down again on the floor wasn’t one she was particularly looking forward to. "There should be some chairs in the hall. Just set me down there. I can play my part." |
