"No," Ari said, coming over from the dance floor and taking the other seat next to Cressida. "I saw you were friends - and told him that he should help me make sure you didn't skip your birthday." The bartender came back with wine glasses. Ari passed one to Cressida then took the other for herself. Drake would either ask for water or something incredibly embarrassing - once it had even been bright pink with cherries floating in it - but she wasn't going to order for him. "White wine, for the birthday girl," she said. "You'll have to buy my red another time - I'll treat you tonight." She clinked her glass against Cressida's, then drank, her eyes merry.
"I would say no one will embarrass you by singing to you, but that would be a bald-faced lie, because someone is always singing around here. Still, you could stand to be a little tipsy before then, because Drake is here, and he's a choir of angels all by himself." She laughed. "Drink up." The wine was rich, as ordered, and fairly fruity. Even as a person who generally preferred red wine, Ari couldn't help but enjoy it.
