“They weren’t even done,” he exclaimed, leveling Audrey with a stare. But with his being René, and her being Audrey--it held little effect. “And I haven’t started those yet.” He turned back to Eden and mustered up a smile, if a somewhat frazzled one. “I’d love a hand, but are you sure you don’t want to watch the show? Heard there are some pretty good acts, including this one.” At this he pointed his thumb at Audrey. “But she isn’t going until the second half and I can make her help in the meantime. If you want to stay though, then Audrey, meet Eden, my girlfriend” He walked over to the Ranger, unable to keep his smile from growing as he leaned down to kiss her cheek. “And Eden, meet Audrey,” he said, similarly gesturing over to her, “a friend. Let’s get started on some more ganache, alright?” “I could go watch the show, but don’t you need me more here? I can taste things,” Eden said playfully with a bounce. She knew that they had a deal, but she couldn’t keep herself from feeling quite loved whenever she was around René. He was just such a warm and caring person. She easily tipped her face so that he could kiss her cheek, before turning to catch him on the corner of his mouth. It wasn’t so much a playful or teasing peck, as a pleased and uncharacteristically shy one. She turned to view the bomb stealer and smiled brightly. “Pleasure,” she said sticking out a hand to the woman. “I might sneak out to see you, though. When are you going?” Then as if she hadn’t just been having a conversation she shifted sharply back to the cook. “Wait, isn’t Ari performing tonight?!” Audrey’s mouth had dropped wide open, residue of chocolate still in her mouth. “Girlfriend?” was all that could come out of her mouth. She felt eyes glued on her and her voice lowered, her face clearly still trying to make a connection. “I thought you we--” she cut herself off. “I was sure--” Audrey’s own hand came up to slap the stutters out of her lips. Finally in control of herself, Audrey scooped up Eden’s hand shaking it. This poor beard. “It’s very nice to meet you.” A little embarrassed by her spectacle, Audrey rubbed the back of her neck, laughing nervously. “Fourth performance in the second act. It’s a trapeze act,” she added with a nod. The ninja raised her eyebrows at the mention of Ari. “You know Ari?” she inquired curiously but went straight to answering her question. “She’s performing in both acts.” Audrey received a mild warning glance from René, but he went back to chopping up the chocolate while cream sat on the stovetop. It wasn’t that she lacked tact, except—well no, it was exactly that. Both of them seemed to be getting along pretty well so far though. He could actually see them becoming easy friends down the road. He paused, knife hovering over the cutting board. Hold that thought. He wasn’t sure if he could handle the both of them if they teamed up against him in the kitchen. They were both quicker than he was (and could also beat him up if they wanted to). They also ate way more than he did, since they both required the energy. Then again, there was considerable work to be done while they were distracted with getting to know each other. René mulled over his choices. He scooped the chocolate fragments into a bowl and poured the heavy cream soon after, mixing everything together with a large spoon. Once the chocolate had melted into the cream evenly, he tapped said spoon against the bowl and held it up. “Who wants to lick the spoon?” he offered. |
