“I suppose,” the mage muttered under his breath. At least the show was good this year. He’d have to give Azalea his compliments on another job well done. While he enjoyed her other gifts, this wasn’t one he could easily write off. She had a knack for building the perfect combination of performances to hit in you in all the right places. There had been enough feelings floating around the room to choke a small child. Luckily, he was not one of those.
He also hadn’t brought flowers or anything that one usually gave a performer. He knew most of them, and was an associate of the one of the guild councilors, which is why he’d been hired.
“I can leave as soon as I finish packing up my work area, which can wait if you still have business to attend to.” Due to the damned plague, there really hadn’t been many things in stock, but he knew there were already a few white mages in the audience, including his Ems. That attack earlier in the week had made things better. The slimes had provided a much needed component to his potions. Cid’s research had been helpful in that regard, at least.
