Theo/Ari/Loch/René/Drake vs Cúchulainn
Ari had not known what to expect once she'd realized what manner of conflict she was caught up in, but she certainly hadn't expected that -- of all people, René would not have been one she'd suspected of harboring such a secret, but more than that, the way it all happened seemed rather strange (she saw him topple almost the moment the summon appeared, and the earth giant itself seemed to flicker out almost as quickly as he'd come, though he'd at the very least succeeded in getting their enemy off of them for a few brief moments.
In those brief moments, she saw Drake stumbling ahead, and she lingered in indecision for only seconds before moving forward. Theo was still there with his giant sword, and Drake, too -- surely they could keep her from being hit long enough for her to at least correct Drake's state before she scrambled back again.
Soul Etude was certainly improving with repetition; she felt confident it would work now. But just as she saw Drake straightening, her fingers became suddenly slow and unwieldy, and she would have cursed her choice to approach had she not been a bit occupied (between attempting to negate the effects of this damnable sap field and the furious, wordless roaring in her head, it was a miracle she had time even to think of the next cadence).
The roaring reminded her of another such battle, though, and instead of looping into Soul Etude once again, she played the first notes of Rousing Melody. Better than attempting to cure the slowness - as she sang, laboriously at first, then with greater and greater ease, she felt it melt away and her former hastened state return. Around her, her colleagues would feel their muscles begin to respond more quickly.
This thing, whatever it was (not like Ifrit, or the earth giant, or Asura; not judging by the frenzy of the creature sharing her mind when she looked up at the green mass looming over them) was not going to stomp around trying to kill people she was determined to protect. A healer's worst nightmare, this was, but fear had melted to frustration and then anger -- no one was going to die. And if she had to see to it singlehandedly, then she would do exactly that.
