Merri never felt healthier. True, he still had some recovery to do and he was determined not to let something like this happen to him ever again – and to start, he was going to meticulously heed the mages’ advice to continue to drink a lot of fluids, eat healthy, and stay bundled up – but compared to where he was just a couple of days ago, he felt like a new person. That was, for now, good enough. He didn’t have many belongings to gather and the clothes he had worn into the Cathedral he let the mages burn, in case the virus still lived in the fabric. He could buy new pajamas. His mother had brought him a fresh set of clothes from his room at the Tower (yesterday, she had made sure that he would return to an immaculate room with brand new sheets), and after getting dressed and thanking the acolytes and mages for all they have done not just for him, but for the many other patients they’d had in their care, he set off to look for Father Luscini. On his way out, he nearly bumped into a passing mage, and he couldn’t help but to grin when he recognized her. “Lex! I’m glad to see you’re well!” |
