The sound of bullets and arrows hitting the ceiling was overtaken by a resounding crack as one of the larger ceiling crystals came crashing down along with a rain of dust and shale. Even at a safe distance, Ari could feel the vibration as it toppled upon the massive lizard, which fell with a final roar.
There was little time to rejoice, however for the dinosaur had hardly been the only enemy to emerge from the hallway; there were more bombs now, and even with the mage and the mime tossing spells at them, there were more than half a dozen remaining, forming a loose circle around the support team that appeared to be tightening. Ari had only a moment to realize that two of them looked a great deal bigger than the others when the first of the explosions rang out.
Hot white light exploded across her vision as she fell to the ground, instinctively protecting her instrument; her back was in agony, clearly aflame, and she rolled with a yelp, attempting to save her armor and the fabric and skin beneath from further burns. She managed to rise to her knees, aching all over -- had the others been hit, too? -- and even with Regen renewing her damaged skin and muscle, moving was a trial. She could scarcely distinguish the roar of battle from the roaring in her head -- no, no, not yet, stop that -- as she once again gathered herself and began to play. Life Song, this time, so simple and yet so crucial, coupling with Regen to speed the mending of her body until she could stand without wobbling, right as she let ring the final note.
