The yelp of pain elicited from the bard wasn't lost on Gillian, and she half-turned to see what new enemy was assaulting them from the other direction. She was forced to remind herself quickly that it was in no one's best interest for her to halt her attack now--not when Uppsala had joined in the effort to keep the beast preoccupied. Moving her attention from the reptilian beast, she knew, would create a far worse scenario for them all, and instead, the samurai pulled her bow over one shoulder and reached for her katana.
The affects of the bard's song wove through her with a fire and force and a strength now doubled. "Time to up the stakes," she said underneath her facemask, concentrating on the blade now in her hands.
Harnessing the innate spiritual energies held within the very steel of the katana, Gillian raised up her sword and as the reptile began to lunge in her direction, unleashed the force of a phantom blade. The spiritual energy of Ashura rent the very air and struck at the monster's skull. A wave of blood poured onto the stones below as the beast roared in pain.
Keeping her focus on the beast, she continued to advance, sword swinging.
