"I'll look forward to it," Ari murmured, but left the topic alone otherwise; a little innuendo was as far as that line of conversation was likely to go. "You are charming, I'll give you that," she agreed. Certainly more fun to celebrate with than the majority of the others, if only for novelty's sake - there were not many gainfully employed individuals who ventured into this part of town after dark. Fewer still who mixed so comfortably with the less respectable members of society without losing their composure, and among those, only a handful, she was sure, with good strong hands and a pretty face.
"Shouldn't I?" Ari inquired. "That lot -" she gestured to the hangers-on - "are getting appallingly drunk on my money and have likely already forgotten why we're here. Except that one," she amended, sparing an eye roll at what's-his-name, "but I am not nearly drunk enough. In fact, there is probably not enough wine in this place." Or in the world, if it came to that.
"Ahh, my sort, of course," she said, starting on the next glass before continuing with relish, the victory still sweet. "The sort who accepts very important jobs from the city council. I am nefarious indeed."
