They managed to make their way up with little mishap - those who chose to linger on the stairs outside instead of inside the tavern rarely went past the second floor, so it was easier going after that point, though navigating the stairs was still a challenge. Still, they made it up eventually, with Ari only losing her balance and using Aspel to keep her upright one or two times. Not crawling, not carried - success.
She fumbled a few times but managed to produce her keys. Giving Aspel a considering look as she fit the correct key into the keyhole - third try, not bad - she said. "Thank you. Really. I wanted to celebrate and your company was a nice surprise." Definitely better than some of the hangers-on. The escort hadn't been bad either, though she did feel a bit put out by Aspel's gracious - and appropriate - manners. Had she lost her touch? Uh-oh, that was her vanity, better not dwell on that thought too long...
"You're welcome to come in, if you like," she said at length, deciding it was better to play it off as nothing at all; no need to be frosty with someone who had been kind and pleasant. "No ulterior motive or invitation implied - but if you'd rather head home now, I won't hold it against you." She would likely stumble to bed, and if she was very lucky, she'd splash some water on her face and brush her teeth beforehand.
