The silence fell thick -- Ridley had never expected the hare to respond -- and so, leaving it at that, she rose to her feet (and on shaky knees). Gentle hands scooped the bunny out of its cardboard container, holding her at eye level. Logic dictated that, even though they had spent months together, it wasn't safe to bring her face too close. After all, this was a wild animal, not a domesticated pet one could cuddle at night. This was where a dreamhare belonged. This was home.
So she smiled weakly, and whispered: "Goodbye, Lysa."
Not a second was spared before she set the hare down softly upon the grass, remaining crouched. Lysa appeared hesitant, which surprised her -- it seemed as if she wanted to stay -- but her nose was soon twitching to take in the new smells and surroundings, and within moments, she was hopping away. Only when she was longer in sight did the scholar stand.
A short amount of time later, after the ache had dispersed, she turned to approach Peony and their accompanying dragoon, moving on numb legs. She came to a stop some feet away from them, hands brushing at the folds of her dress, and nodded. It's done, the nod said.
