Permission granted, Kiernan set his hand upon the dog's head, rubbing it in that firm yet gentle way he knew most dogs liked. "Aw, aren't you a good puppy," he cooed, chuckling. Once he finished the ministrations, he pulled his hand back and turned to address the woman again. "Always wanted a dog myself, but my parents didn't think my brother and me'd be able to take care of one."
And now, he had his own dragon. Sort of. He wasn't unconvinced that he was the one who was the pet in that particular relationship.
"Did you have him since he was a pup?" he asked. Then, noticing her to-go cup and as though just realizing that he was likely intruding, he said, "Sorry, I bet you're in a rush, aren't you?"
