Cid/Vivi/Cormac/Open
Cormac hadn't been sleeping that night. In fact, he hadn't been home that night, and unlike other nights, he'd been very busy. He'd been hovering over Riyeko and the newest invention they'd been tinkering with. Well, she'd been tinkering with it. He just mostly hovered and watched the tinkering, fascinated with the mechanics of the thing.
With it, depending on the focus, he'd be able to amplify his abilities without wearing himself out. It'd be very beneficial to him. He didn't much care for the community uses of such an invention. Being only able to cast weaker spells was very obnoxious.
The alarm sounded, he wasn't very interested at first. He found the noise to be distracting and urged Riyeko to continue the project...that was before he realized what this could mean. The alarm didn't die down. The criers in the town continued to run through the streets and he finally stuck his head out the window to hear what was happening.
Monsters flooding the docks.
A perfect opportunity to try out their latest invention. Practical data was just as important as the theory and concepts behind it. And that's why he had the girl strap the thing onto him. He wasn't sure how they were going to carry it, but they'd managed to somehow jerry rig a holster of some sort to make it secure. Once that was done, he was well on his way. Hopefully, the neurotic machinest was behind him to take notes.
She was way ahead of him, pulling him up on the hoverboard. He hated that thing. Unstable. And he looked so awkward holding onto her for balance. It was faster this way and less tiring as the thing was a little heavy. It was worth it though. They'd refine it later, try to compact it, but this was a prototype. Prototypes needed proper testing.
Once they arrived, he tried to steady himself on the back of the thing as she maneuvered over the beasts below. He didn't know what to try to shoot first. Pointing the nozzle at a grouping of monsters not too far from the shore, he cast Fira. He felt the magic flow out of his body through the machine and a huge wave of flame burst out igniting a group of iguions. This was a success! "Closer, we have to move closer," he called to the girl who was navigating. "Let me down!"
It would be easier to aim with a proper footing. Then he saw Cid. "Over there," he pointed toward the man, where Cid could bask in his practical idea in action.
