Siana/Maria/Peony/Open
They moved forward, helping two more civilians get out of the way. Peony's hands felt frozen solid, but her rod stayed firmly in her grip. Perhaps it was a property of the wood? Regardless, it did not slip. She was able to follow three steps behind, attempting to stay vigilant and remain close enough to Siana and Maria that she could call upon their assistance if needed. But of course, they were occupied, too. It was only a matter of time before something got through.
One of the toads somehow got close enough to snap at her side; with a flick of her rod, she threw a thunder spell in its direction, missing due to the awkward angle. The spell hit a puddle near the toads side; the toad spasmed and hoped back, it's eyes wild. She followed this with a fire spell, hot and bright in the darkness. The rod warmed in her palms. This one did not miss.
As this fire died away, so, too did the enchantment on the weapons. She did not refresh it; they had not yet approached the main swarm, though she assumed it would be close. Time enough to squander her energy then, for she had no doubt she would need all of it.
