ARI/SELORIA | PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT - COMPLETE
“I can imagine.” The thought of mentoring was not appealing right now, though Ari thought she might take it on someday in the distant future when her stage career began to decline. But that was a very long time from now, surely; she could hardly imagine being anything but young and vivacious as she thought of it now.
Still, to each her own. There needed to be teachers if talent was to be cultivated, after all. And judging by the girl who had been pointed out, Seloria Cassul had some skill as an instructor. “Very pretty form,” Ari commented, then added, with a sheepish smile, “though I speak as an amateur, of course. But I do love dancing.” She intended to find Aspel later, in fact, and ensure she got a few turns on the dance floor as well.
Seloria was of the mind that everyone could dance. Maybe it wasn't always the right step or even the right rhythm, but everyone could dance in some form or fashion. "If you ever want to come by for a lesson, I would be more than happy to oblige you," she gave the offer openly before hesitating to state the next part. "You could also ask my sister." The words came out carefully. "She did practice dance before I."
“I’m some years past my final dance lesson, though there could still be much to learn, as in any art, I’m sure.” The mention of Aspel had her pausing, considering, then saying, “She hasn’t instructed me -- only indulged me -- but she is, indeed, quite skilled.” And willing to take endless circuits of the floor at Ari’s behest, it seemed, if their few outings to establishments that offered dancing were anything to go by.
Telling her she it was never too late to learn was on the tip of Seloria's tongue, but she held it only to hear Ari state what she thought. And so, she nodded in agreement. She'd seen them go around the floor once or twice, but hadn't put much thought into it, considering that's what balls were usually for, in her opinion, if not spreading gossip, slander, and scandal. "Just a suggestion," she encouraged lightly as her student stepped off the floor, practically glowing. "I hope you do not mind if I excuse myself. Must make sure the girl does not run off with that young man," she said with an amused smile.
“And we wouldn’t want that,” Ari answered, with an amused smile of her own. She was glad to let the other topic go for now, after all; the segue was well-timed. “Go on, then. I’ve a number of people to greet yet this evening.” She nodded and said, “I do hope you enjoy your evening.”
