Merri had no idea what he was doing here or how he'd been talked into doing this -- he was trying to make it a point to avoid hauntings of any sort -- but he was here now, and he intended to be a good sport about it though he was already beginning to shake in his shoes. He wished the captain was here, but at least Audrey told them the way to keep themselves safe from any angry, wrathful spirit that might come from this summoning: the salt water, which Merri fully intended to keep in his mouth until the ordeal was over.
He tried to comfort himself further with the knowledge that he knew how to battle ghosts through research and previous encounters, but then he remembered the wraith and the spell of Doom that had been cast on him and, with dismay, he realized he didn't have a single potion or remedy on him. At least Cormac was here, though he seemed very inebriated, which did not placate Merri's worries a bit (especially when Audrey asked for a strand of hair, and Merri had to be the one to pluck it from the white mage's scalp, though he'd been tentative about it), and Ari, whose presence did give Merri some calm.
Then the other man, the one Merri didn't know, introduced himself, and even through the trepidation Merri was able to recognize the name. But it was a conversation to be had later, and Merri took the man's hand and introduced himself simply, "I'm Merri." He was just happy he was able to keep the trembling out of his voice, but the nerves, he knew, seeped through too easily.
As Audrey finished her speech, Merri shyly raised a hand. "Um... how do we end the ritual? And do we have to be apart from each other?"
