Ari took the candy and popped it into her mouth. "I don't know," she said to Merri in an easy, relaxed tone of voice, "what I brought wasn't nearly as delicious. I thought, as a bard, my duty was to bring something Quen hadn't heard before, as opposed to tasted."
Ari could imagine exactly why Merri would be preoccupied, but the less she alluded to it the more quickly he would realize it had not been anything vastly important.
