Foxe liked having the excuse. He wasn't a violet man, by any measure of the word, but sometimes there was satisfaction to be had in subduing large and belligerent people. He didn't voice this thought aloud.
"I don't mind," he said, keeping a leisurely pace. "Just like you said, I don't expect it to be busy until it's dark. Only foolish young ones start trouble this early. Most have the common sense to wait a bit."
Foxe didn't mind Lavitz's company. He had the feeling that his friend needed someone who wasn't going to force holiday cheer down his throat. "Tell me, how've you been?"
