Ash rolled her eyes. "It would be a sucker's bet," she agreed. There was no way the drunken fool wouldn't plaster himself all over Lan if she looked even slightly willing. Men were fools; this was something she knew firsthand. She was surrounded by enough of them to know what they were like. "I'd rather get paid than a laugh."
Which was why she was in the upfront business she was in - wasn't like she could advertise the work she did for the syndicate, and most people still didn't know how involved she was. Tynan had kept her separate in the public eye long enough that most people assumed she had little influence. Better to keep it that way.
"You go and have your fun. I'm going to go buy my chocolate."
