The man seemed determined to remain defiant, though his resolve did seem to wither, just a little, and it was enough for Siana to try a slightly different tactic, one that would not contradict Monaco's words -- for nothing would weaken their position more -- but one that, she hoped, would give him an out he likely wanted.
"The more honest and upfront you are with us," she said, her words more gentle than the tone of her voice, "the less severe your punishment will be, and you will be free to go, in time."
At that, the man scoffed, shaking his head with a smirk tugging at his lips. "No," he said. "You will not win. You will never win. And I won't damn myself."
Siana narrowed her eyes, biting back a string of angry curses she wished to fling at the man. But, at least, he was not playing the innocent bystander, and with these words, he proved himself to be the best lead they had.
Perhaps her promises, then, were empty, but that would be for the confessional later.
"What were you doing down there?" she asked, her lack of patience seeping through this time.
