Quenten sat with her ankles crossed under her chair as she sipped her own tea. She had ordered a salad too, but had requested grilled chicken on hers, and she had gone with iced tea. It was really quite warm, with one of those refreshing breezes that kept one from overheating. She was far enough away from the bustle of the street that she didn't feel overwhelmed, and it wouldn't be hard for them to talk and be heard, but the noise of people chattering and going about their business was loud enough to seem cheerful and companionable.
She had been so looking forward to this get-together. She enjoyed the other women from church, but they weren't supposed to talk during the service, and so having lunch afterward was a good opportunity to get to know each other. As they waited for the next person to arrive, Quen smiled to her right, in the general direction of Peony, grateful for the day and the opportunity to be where she was.
