Moving in full armor was not the quietest of endeavors; as such, she heard the man coming before she saw him, and would have attempted to cram herself into some corner had there been one available. Surely her luck was not bad enough to run across three fighters in this one ill-advised day of truancy! Then the man entered the shop, and it was worse than she'd anticipated, for although he was no fighter, he was a judge (wasn't there such a thing as a truancy court? Would someone tell the Demiels? What would the Countess -- and Alys -- think??), not to mention a very familiar judge.
The only way this could be worse, she thought forlornly, was if the junior Lord Finch had entered the shop at this moment instead.
Though, when Lord Finch -- Senior -- passed his eyes over her, she did not note any immediate recognition. Perhaps... he did not remember her? She wasn't very memorable, and it wasn't as though his brother invited her to train at the estate, so perhaps this could be salvaged after all. Accordingly, she nodded her head in greeting, offered him a polite, "Good afternoon, your honor," and hoped that he might receive his cupcakes and depart as soon as possible.
