Lionel was perfectly content to let the conversation shift back to today’s exhibits. He did want to hear the councilors’ opinions on the city’s recent troubles, of course, and in great detail. He knew the basics, but it was still so hard to wrap his mind around it all. Necromancers, murders, monsters — every city had its trouble, but so many horrible things in such a short time frame was unusual, especially for Emillion. Still, this wasn’t the time or the place. There would be plenty of other opportunities for him to pick their brain.
“I’m perfectly happy with demonstrations,” he replied cheerfully. “Besides, I don’t think I would be able to afford any of it!” Most people would sound a little more discontent about being broke, but not Lionel--he thought spell effect expanders were just as interesting as the next person, but he was generally fine going without the latest gadget, the newest clothes, and the most expensive weapons.
He grinned as he reached for another pastry. “As long as nothing explodes. But I don’t think anything is going to happen on the last day. It’ll be nice and quiet.”
