"I accept your apology as well, on behalf of myself and my friends," Altair said smoothly, "and I don't believe any further apologies are needed in this matter. I am open to discussing the matter of the past, if you like," he added quickly, "and that of our respective ... complicated relationships with the nobility of this city, but I certainly do not require any more apologies for your disposition." He said the last with a smile. He did remember Siana as a younger woman, and if he remembered correctly, she'd always been a bit ... surly.
"I do realize that I may have put you in a somewhat delicate situation by asking that you go along with us," he went on. "For that, perhaps an additional apology is warranted. You've no need to impugn your honor on my behalf, however. Should anyone bring up anything that you believe could be related to this matter, tell them only that you saw me on the night in question, which is true, and that I might be able to prove details or an explanation or whatever it is they are requesting from you."
Altair certainly did not plan to get arrested over something that was not, technically, illegal, and he was more confident in his own ability to explain away his involvement than for Siana to attempt to do the same, that he would not even ask it of her.
