Siana narrowed her eyes but decided not to press the matter. A headache could come from any number of ailments from the onset of the flu to a hangover, but she was no medic and so she deferred to Monaco's judgment of I'll be fine. In the meantime, they had other business to attend to.
"Nothing yet," she replied. Everything about that murder rubbed Siana the wrong way; yes, he had murdered more than what had been done unto him, and while Siana was no fan of the judges in the city, Conti had been no man of influence. Though he had murdered prostitutes, the women had entered the profession legally and the law would not see his side on the issue at all. There was a mountain of evidence against him, and surely, he would have seen death in due time. Whoever had taken matters into their own hands... well, Siana wanted to see these vigilantes arrested.
Unfortunately, they had nothing to go on. Whoever had done the deed had been perfectly discreet, and the men and women of the Sapphire and Emerald Houses were either perfect actresses or had been telling the truth when they said that they hadn't the slightest of ideas of who did it.
Worse, the crime scene was now cold and cleaned, and so all they had to go off of were the sketches, memstones, and reports, all of which pointed to nothing.
At least they had one case that had become active again. The loss of life that accompanied it was unfortunate, and it was three too many, but perhaps now they could finally get to the bottom of this.
"Let's focus on the sewers case," she said. Sewers case was too simplistic a term, she knew, considering that it was connected to so much more beyond what had happened five days ago, but it was to the point. "From what Peony has told me before, that... culprit--" She'd had to hesitate from calling that man all other sorts of names. "--must have committed those murders to harness some power. It may have been to control that construct; it may have been for something... bigger." Like the hordes of undead from months ago. "Have you talked to the Korporal since then?" Siana had meant to, but she hadn't found the time yet. Hopefully Monaco may have.
