He seemed understanding, though she could help but fiddle with the hem of her dress. It was always a little nerve-wrecking talking about the red light district, especially with all the shade it garnered due to the questionable careers there. Maybe she shouldn’t have said that. If he hadn’t been right in front of her, Audrey would have already been nibbling at her lip nervously. Playing with the hem of her dress would do for now. At least he hadn’t walked out yet. Darius was probably that nice—to be the understanding type, she had figured. His comment sure made her think so.
Audrey smiled at his memory. It was nice to see how family oriented he was. A sad feeling had begun to rise out of her stomach, but she was quick to wash it down with wine. She always did. She knew that feeling very well. She hasn’t exactly sure how the mage class system worked. Audrey had figured it would be something like the bard’s guild with a starting apprentice sort of thing, though in their case “students”. “It seems you found your calling at a young age, huh?” Darius’ comment about being able to take care of his mother made her wonder about Darius’ father. It wasn’t right to ask. There would be a time and place for it, but not today.
“My favorite food?” she mused for a minute, finger on her chin as she tilted her head in thought. “Melonpan!” she grinned joyfully. “Though, that’s more of a dessert, isn’t it? I’m not sure,” she chuckled. “My older brother and I would always sneak into the kitchen and tried to steal them when they were fresh baked. We always ended up spoiling our dinner.” Audrey pursed her lips in thought again. “Ordalian-styled Ramen is pretty good also. I know of a good stand in the Commoner’s District. They put a cooked egg in it where the yolk just melts into the soup. It’s so delicious!”
“You're not going to like this question, but I promise I'll make it up. Most embarrassing moment?”
