Her eyes immediately shot down at her hand when Darius covered hers, soft fingers stroking over the back of her hand. There was an intimidating minute of just staring, before Audrey reached over with her other hand to cup his with both her hands. She flipped his hand over to examine his palm, long fingers tracing over before finally putting her hand back where it was and placing his on top of hers. The smile on her face was silly, almost embarrassed for her impromptu actions. “I’m sorry,” she finally spoke. “My hands are just so rough.” Her silly smile turned into a grin. “I’m excited for you to use your hands.”
Audrey smiled at his response and nodded. She continued about her ways until he spoke. This sort of thing was kind of difficult to answer. In truth, she didn’t want him to think badly of her so as she had done several times before, she spun a white lie. “Only recently,” she smiled again to him. “A close friend of mine really likes to go out wine tasting so I had to learn. I’m quite a fan of reds.” All of which was partially true. With Laurent trying to teach her how to be a lady, she had to learn some manners when it came to drinking—meaning no mead, but whatever. When she felt it was aired enough, Audrey drew the glass to her lips and took a small sip. “It’s nice,” she commented on the taste. “How long have you been drinking wine?” It seemed he had far more experience with the liquid and her curiosity was quite piqued.
The blonde bit the inside of her cheek. She shouldn’t have said that. She shouldn’t have asked. What she should have done was learn from his reaction last time she made such comments and how to avoid that—especially today. Ugh, what if she already sounded nagging. Huge turn off. As soon as her hand was enveloped by both of Darius’ hands, Audrey’s smile widened. “I’m sorry,” she apologized quietly, but it wasn’t long before she added, “I’ll make sure tonight you feel like you’ve gone on a long vacation.”
“I like games, so let’s play one! We’ll play 5 questions.” The nature of the game was always to find out the most embarrassing or personal stuff about another. It was essentially like truth or dare except all truths. “I’ll go first!” With her other free hand, she rested her elbow on the table and her cheek on her hand leaning closer to his face. “When was your first kiss?”
