"Alright." It was nice to not have to think about all of the crazy of his day too thoroughly. Nice to have a pretty girl to distract him from his woes. Nice to be able to focus on something that wasn't the troubles of the city for at least a little bit this evening, even if he was probably going to pay for it in the morning. At least tonight, things were just... Nice. A pretty girl, a good glass of wine on the way, a relaxed atmosphere and maybe, if he was really lucky, the night would end with a bang.... Figuratively and literally. Raising his hand, it came up to cover hers, fingers stroking idly over the back of her hand if she'd allow him to do so.
"Nah, I'll be fine." And it was true, he would. A good quarter pot a coffee before the end of his shift would see to that. Besides, Darius wasn't the type of guy to complain. People had enough issues, they didn't need to hear about his. Which was precisely why he always stated a fact and moved on. There was no point in doting on the way his life went, if he was in pain or tired. It might explain his moods sometimes, but otherwise, there was no point in making other people worry. At the sight of the waitress coming back with the wine, his smile widened a little and a nod of thanks was given with the low singular word. Darius would catch Audrey's actions out of the corner of his eye, and couldn't help the widening of his smile. "You drink wine often?" There was a hint of enjoyment in what she presented, and slowly, he raised his glass, beginning to go through the motions as well. "Seems like most people don't have a clue how to really enjoy the stuff."
Her next words were about to earn a rebuttal from him about how he didn't need a vacation, everything was fine, but the continued bit about the city getting hit hard earned a crinkling of his brow. "Yeah, crazy huh?" They needed to figure out what was going on. Was it over? Was there more to come? His intuition had never been perfect but he couldn't help but teeter back and forth on the issue constantly. They had gone through so much, there couldn't possibly be more, but..... What if this was only the beginning? Though, Audrey was talking again and Darius simply offered a shrug, his other hand that had attempted to cover hers simply patting the top of her hand. "I'm alright."
The full extent of what she knew about him earned a brief "Heh." before his smile surfaced again. "Dunno whatcha ya know." And quite honestly, he really didn't. Besides, it was easier to not talk about yourself when you made people ask for specifics. Then you could only focus on what they asked for and not derail into other needless details.
