"The Ordalian coast," Merri murmured dreamily. He had seen pictures, but his trek to Ordalia had been to a desert, which was hardly scenic. Perhaps someday the captain would take him.
He blushed at the formal address. "N-no, really, please, don't call me... that," he sheepishly laughed. "It's really just a job and nothing really special at all." Mountains of paperwork, which Merri didn't mind, rarely amounted to anything glamorous as the title and apparent prestige that came with it. There were times when being a councilor meant more than that, but Merri did not relish those moments, either, for they were often accompanied by scores of undead or serpents attacking the docks. Merri did long for adventure, of course, but within the city was hardly the place he wanted to have it. "But... everything?"
Merri wasn't quite sure where to begin, and he took a moment to deliberate before answering, "Um, well, I guess I'm no longer doing..." What had he been studying when Lionel left? "Black magic? Synergy? Blue? Well, not formally anyway. I'm a red mage now. And... and I'm in lo-- dating someone now. A sky captain." He grinned. "Outside of that--" And the attacks in the city. "--there's nothing else really too exciting! Especially compared to everything you've been up to, I'm sure! You must have so many stories." And Merri wanted to hear everything Lionel was willing to tell.
