After a day and a half of traveling, coupled with all he’d accomplished today, Lionel should’ve been exhausted. He could feel the fatigue doing its best to edge in, settling into his bones whenever he paused long enough to realize how long he’d been doing something. But all he needed to do to keep it at bay was start off on his next important task: get a room near the House of Faram, visit Almalexia at the Cathedral, then visit his parents in the Commoners District, get in touch with Miles, et cetera, et cetera.
It had almost crept up on him as he waited for Merri outside the Tipsy Sheep. But just the sound of Merri’s voice was enough to give him his second (well, perhaps it was more like thirteenth) wind. A broad grin spread on his features as he enveloped the red mage in a bear hug.
“I’m happy to see you too! I’m so glad you could make it. I was worried I’d have to wait weeks to see you, what with—” Lionel paused for a moment, suddenly looking a bit nervous. Should he have addressed Merri more formally? Should he be using honorifics? He was a councilor now, after all.
