Cormac & open | Mid-Evening
Cormac needed to breathe. There were just far too many people inside the ballroom and he wanted to slip away to be alone. While he was more than happy to be spending time with Emily, he was not happy to be spending it here. Unfortunately, it was part of who she was and her plan, therefore he would endure.
It dredged up so many memories. Terse greetings, polite nods, trying not to scowl at everyone. The last bit was easier to manage with the way people appeared to eat up Emily's presence. She stole most of their attentions and he was okay with that. The repetition of questions was enough to make him almost seek a drink while being addressed. How did he feel now that she was back? He had just began answering them with looks, and that's when he new he had to excuse himself or else he'd end up insulting people.
No one could ever figure out what she saw in him. If they did, he'd pay them let him know.
For now, he ducked away out onto the hall and brought a cigarette to his lips. A moment later it was lit and he inhaled the smoke, letting it coat the inside of his throat and his lungs. Exhaling, he watched as the white streams made a little cloud before dissolving. Then he thought about how he should've brought a flask or picked up something stronger than champagne, but he was on his good behavior tonight. It was Emily's re-debut to society. He couldn't completely foul that up for her.
He pinched the bridge of his nose and leaned on the railing.
