Mixed emotions assaulted Ridley upon waking up on the morning of her birthday. The day prior had been a flurry of stress, excitement, and then later, dismay. Stone had left the city, leaving only a bandanna in her wake, and just before slipping off into a dreamless sleep, she'd wrapped the red cloth around the circumference of her staff in memory of a kind girl with a difficult life. 'It means courage.'
The upside to her morning was waking up to softness brushing her hand, which she would discover belonged to the hare she'd taken in from the wolf hunt. Its injured leg was doing considerably better, but the tiny foot could barely hold up the weight of its body and massive tail, so it wobbled, bumping against her fingers. Dreamhares, their breed was. Docile for the most part, until provoked, but she suspected little provoking would occur within her own quarters.
Ruby eyes peered up at Ridley as she sent off a quick alert to Merri -- 'Please don't be alarmed by the presence of the dreamhare in my room. Her name is Lysa' -- before slipping into her dress, braiding flowers into her hair, and slipping from her room to meet Quen at Baker's Dozen.
She was fifteen now, but she felt forty-five.
