Matthew Bomer and Marlee Matlin
Simon had gone back to Los Angeles and Matt was once again on his own in New York. It will still be a few weeks before he could make the trip out to see the kids and Simon again, but in the mean time he meant to pass the time visiting the Elysian. He proved to be the sort of place in the past that could provide the sort of entertainment Matt was occasionally interested in, as well as being a place where he could simply talk to people if that was more his mood for the day.

And for the moment the latter seemed to be the case, perhaps he could change his mind as the night wore on, but a simple conversation was all he was after. And after just a little bit of wandering he saw a familiar face (not that it was out of the ordinary, the clientele tended to be rather recognizable more often than not) but unlike certain publicity events Matt didn't feel quite the same desire to stick with the people he worked with most often and avoid people he didn't really know.

And how could he simply avoid a woman like Marlee Matlin after all? Matt might have a preference for men but he wasn't blind, and it helped that he was a bit of a fan. "You're not going to be terribly offended if I tell you that I love your work, are you?" Matt asked hopefully as he approached her.

Marlee fully believed that being deaf led you to love your other senses even more. If she had been born blind, she was sure that she would never stop listening to music and enjoying what senses she had left. Which was why she was out on the veranda of one of the restaurants attached to the Fields, dressed comfortably in a loose, colorful skirt and a matching white blouse. It was sunny and warm outside, the veranda lined with well groomed bushes and flowering plants that had a very light scent on the air.

It was because of the sun that she noticed his approach, glancing up and managing to catch the words on his lips. "Not at all," she said with a smile and gestured to the other seat. He looked familiar to her and if they had been anywhere else but here, she might not have invited him to have a seat. But they were here, at the Fields, and she knew they were thorough in their checks about letting anyone in.

"Would you like to have a seat?"

Matt smiled winningly, pleased that she'd invite him to sit with her, "I would, thank you." Honestly, Matt didn't think it would matter if he ever ended up hitting it big and breaking into Hollywood the way he'd always imagined he might. He was happy doing what he did, with his show and his coworkers, but he didn't think even if by some miracle he ended up a world famous actor he'd ever get used to running into other celebrities. People he'd watched before anyone ever knew his name, and people he still attempted to model his career after.

It was always a little surreal. Like now.

And normally he didn't do that, he knew what it was like to want to have time to yourself without someone coming up to attempt to talk to you, but sometimes Matt just couldn't help himself. "I'm Matt." He said offering his hand as he took the seat that had been offered to him. "It's really a pleasure to meet you."

"A pleasure to meet you, Matt," she replied, reaching out to shake his hand firmly. Here it wasn't like being out on the street and she didn't have company -- both of which would have made her a little less friendly. Neither was the case here and sometimes on such an idyllic afternoon, nothing but good company could make it better.

"Have you had lunch already? The waitress just took my order but if you'd like to have something, the company would be welcome," she started and smiled.
