Riza glanced around and heard enough to get her bearings on where the situation stood. "I'm going to my room for a minute, I'll be right back," she told her husband quietly and stepped out.
Once inside her room, she shut the door and made a beeline for the closet, standing on tiptoe and straining to reach the corner of the highest shelf furthest from the door. Her fingertips slid over and finally caught hold of a sturdy plastic handle, and she dragged the heavy metal lockbox down and set it on her bed.
Riza opened her jewelry box and removed a tray before sticking her hand inside the box, dragging her fingernail along a corner until it triggered open the compartment door where a small key was hidden. While keeping her guns locked up and out of sight was something she'd done almost as long as she lived in the Nexus, the extra security measures were added when small and very inquisitive Elric children became part of the household. With an Elric, one could never be too careful.
From a drawer, she recovered the shoulder holster harness and slipped it on before unlocking the box and retrieving two sidearms. After loading up the clips and slapping them in, she tucked them in the two holsters under her arms. No rounds were chambered yet, and the safeties remained on. It was only a yellow alert situation, and didn't call for them to be primed and ready to fire at a moment's notice.
After putting everything else back where it had been, she hurried out into the living room.
