Edward glances up from working on the registry from the month before. "Oh thank god," he mutters, taking the envelope from his brother. "If it wasn't for the fact that the first is when too many people get paid, I'd make rent due before the first. Makes it less of a headache."
Grumblegrumble. Don't let him fool you. Despite the money problems and the headache the paperwork itself can cause, he likes being able to run the place and help people out.
He pauses after opening the envelope and noticing the letter inside with the check. "Aw, shit. What trouble did she manage to get into this time?"
With Sarah, it's always something. If he didn't like her so much, he'd be inclined to make her boyfriends lock her in a cage to keep her out of trouble for a month.
He still may suggest that to them one of these days.
Of course, the actual content of the letter- hell, even just the opening line- makes him freeze. It's been awhile; he's finally managed to just start adapting to the way his life has to be with his heart problem, and it'd almost become simply just a part of life. Having it brought up in the context of 'something new' again nearly made the poor thing stop again.
